Is CartPause private?
Yes. CartPause stores your paused items in your own private account, never sells your data, runs no third-party advertising trackers, and lets you delete everything any time from inside the app. Your wishlist is visible only to you — not to Amazon, not to advertisers, not to the algorithm.
Privacy is one of the core reasons CartPause exists. A retailer wishlist tells the retailer what you want, then recommends more like it. CartPause does the opposite: it's a private space between you and the urge to buy.
What CartPause does NOT do
- Does not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
- Does not run third-party advertising or behavioral-tracking SDKs.
- Does not tell retailers what you've paused on.
- Does not require your name, email, or any personal details (Sign in with Apple is enough).
- Does not show ads inside the app.
What CartPause does store
To make your cart work and sync across devices, CartPause stores:
- The items you've paused (name, price, image, URL, the note you wrote about each one).
- Your account identifier from Sign in with Apple.
- Anonymous savings totals so the "Saved so far" number in the app works.
That's it. No payment info (the App Store handles subscriptions), no contacts, no location, no browsing history.
Does CartPause sell my data?
No. CartPause does not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers, data brokers, retailers, or any third party. Your paused items, savings totals, and shopping patterns stay in your account. CartPause makes money from optional Pro subscriptions, not from selling user data — those two business models are fundamentally incompatible.
Does CartPause track me with cookies or ads?
No third-party advertising trackers or behavioral cookies run inside the app. The marketing site uses standard analytics (Google Analytics) to understand which pages people read, but the app itself is ad-free and tracker-free. No retargeting, no cross-site profiling, no shopping signals sent to Meta or TikTok.
Do retailers know what's in my CartPause?
No. Unlike a retailer wishlist (Amazon Saved for Later, Target Lists, etc.), CartPause is not connected to any store's account. When you share an item, CartPause reads the public product page to extract the name and price — the retailer doesn't see a "CartPause user added this to their pause list" signal. From their side, it just looks like someone viewed the page.
Do I need to create an account?
Just Sign in with Apple — no email or password, no separate signup. Apple's privacy-relay email option means we never see your real email address if you don't want to share it. That same identifier is what syncs your cart across your iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can delete individual items, clear your entire history, or delete your account from inside the app — Settings → Delete Account. Account deletion removes your paused items and account from CartPause's servers.
How does CartPause sync across my devices?
Your items sync across your iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch through your CartPause account using Sign in with Apple. Each device pulls your private cart from a server tied only to your account. Only you can see it — there's no shared wishlist, no public profile, no "friends who paused this" feed.
Where is my data stored?
On your devices and in CartPause's encrypted database (hosted with Neon, a SOC 2-compliant Postgres provider, on US infrastructure). Your account is linked only to your Sign in with Apple identifier; no email, name, or other identifying details are required for the app to work.
The bottom line
CartPause is built for one job: to give you a private moment of reflection between wanting something and buying it. Selling that moment to advertisers — or letting retailers use it to recommend more stuff to you — would defeat the whole point.
