By using CartPause, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the CartPause iOS application, the CartPause browser extensions for Safari and Chrome, and the website.
Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using CartPause, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our service.
Description of Service
CartPause is an iOS application, with companion browser extensions for Safari and Chrome, that helps you shop with intention by introducing a waiting period before purchases. The service includes:
- Saving items you’re considering purchasing via the iOS Share Extension, by camera, or by hand
- Saving items from Safari on a Mac, or from Chrome and most Chromium-based browsers, with the CartPause browser extensions
- Automatic product detail extraction from shared URLs
- Customizable waiting periods (72, 48, or 24 hours)
- Reminders when your pause is up, sent locally by your device or from our servers
- Penny, an AI spending coach who asks you questions about an item before you decide, shaped by a short profile you fill in
- Someday, a wishlist for items you want to keep without a timer
- Tracking what you saved and what you spent over time
- A home screen widget and Siri shortcuts
- Sync across your iOS devices
Penny and AI-Generated Content
Penny’s questions, observations, and suggested replies are generated by an AI model. You should treat them accordingly:
- Penny is not a financial adviser. Nothing she says is financial, investment, tax, legal, or professional advice, and nothing in CartPause should be relied on as such. For advice about your finances, speak to a qualified professional.
- AI output can be wrong. Generated text may be inaccurate, may misread your situation, or may occasionally be inappropriate for your circumstances. We do not warrant that it will be accurate, suitable, or useful.
- Every decision is yours. CartPause never buys anything for you and never stops you buying anything. Whether you pass, wait, or purchase is entirely your choice and your responsibility.
- Penny is shaped by what you tell her. The profile answers you give affect the questions she asks. You can change or clear them at any time in Menu → Profile.
- The feature may change. AI features depend on third-party models and may be modified, limited, or discontinued.

Subscriptions and Billing
Free and Pro
CartPause is free to use, with no limit on the number of items you can pause. CartPause Pro unlocks additional features: the total savings counter, saving analytics, the Someday universal wishlist, and the Home Screen widget. The features included in each plan are shown in the app and may change over time.
Subscription Plans
CartPause Pro is available as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time purchase that never renews. Prices are displayed in the app at the time of purchase and may vary by region.
Payment and Renewal
All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. The one-time purchase is charged once and does not renew. Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
Cancellation
You can cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings (Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → CartPause Pro). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial billing periods. For refund requests, please contact Apple Support.
Your Account
A CartPause account is created automatically when you Sign in with Apple, which is required so your items can sync across your devices. You are responsible for keeping access to the Apple ID you signed in with, because it is the only way to reach your account. You can delete your account, and everything in it, at any time from Settings → Delete Account.
User Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Use CartPause only for lawful purposes
- Not attempt to hack, reverse engineer, or compromise the application
- Not use the service to harm others or violate their rights
- Not attempt to use Penny to generate unlawful, abusive, or harmful content, or to circumvent our AI provider’s usage policies
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
Intellectual Property
CartPause and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by CartPause and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Third-Party Services
CartPause processes product URLs from third-party retailer websites to extract product information. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or responsible for any third-party retailers. Product information (names, prices, images) is provided by those retailers and may not always be accurate or up to date.
CartPause also relies on service providers to operate, including hosting, database, AI, and subscription management providers. These are listed in our Privacy Policy. Interruptions at those providers may interrupt parts of the service.
Data and Privacy
Your data is stored locally on your device and synced across your iOS devices through your CartPause account, which is created automatically when you Sign in with Apple. We collect only what is needed to make sync work, to let Penny be useful, and to operate the service. Full details are in our Privacy Policy, which governs your use of CartPause along with these Terms.
Disclaimers
CartPause is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that:
- The service will be uninterrupted or error-free
- Product information extracted from retailer websites will be accurate or complete
- AI-generated questions, observations, or suggestions will be accurate, suitable, or appropriate for your circumstances
- Reminders will always be delivered on time, since delivery depends on Apple’s push service, your device, and your notification settings
- The service will result in any particular amount of savings
- Defects will be corrected in any specific timeframe
Saved and spent figures shown in the app are estimates based on the prices captured for items you chose to skip or buy. They are a reflection of your activity in CartPause, not a record of your actual finances, and may not reflect money actually saved or spent.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CartPause shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use or inability to use the service, including any purchasing decision you make or do not make while using CartPause.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold CartPause harmless from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses arising from your use of the service or violation of these Terms.
Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of CartPause after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of CartPause shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except where prohibited by law.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
