Getting Started
What is CartPause?
CartPause helps you fight impulse buying by putting a pause on purchases. When you see something you want to buy, share it to CartPause instead. After the pause timer expires, you decide with a clear head whether to buy it or skip it, and keep the money.
How do I add items?
- Find the product in any app or browser
- Tap the Share button
- Select CartPause from the share menu
- CartPause will automatically pull the product name, price, and image
- Choose your pause duration and tap the green check mark
What happens when a pause expires?
You'll get a notification asking you to decide: Buy it or Skip it. If you skip, the savings are tracked so you can see how much you've saved over time.
Subscription & Billing
Is CartPause free?
Yes. CartPause is free to download. You can pause up to 5 items at a time at no cost, no time limit, no credit card required. Upgrade to CartPause Pro to unlock unlimited paused items, the Someday wishlist, full savings analytics, and the home-screen widget.
What are the subscription options?
- Monthly: $1.99/month
- Yearly: $19.99/year (save 17%)
Cancel anytime through your Apple ID subscriptions.
How do I cancel my subscription?
- Open Settings on your iPhone
- Tap your name at the top
- Tap Subscriptions
- Select CartPause Pro
- Tap Cancel Subscription
You'll continue to have access until the end of your current billing period.
How do I restore my subscription?
If you reinstalled the app or got a new device, open CartPause and go to Menu → Restore Subscription. This will check your Apple ID for an active subscription and restore your access.
I was charged but can't access the app
Try restoring your subscription from Menu → Restore Subscription. If that doesn't work, make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe. If the issue persists, contact us at hello@cartpause.com.
Using the App
Which stores does CartPause work with?
CartPause works with any app or website that supports iOS sharing, including Amazon, Target, Walmart, Nordstrom, Nike, Best Buy, Etsy, and thousands more. If a store has a Share button, CartPause can capture it.
Why isn't the price loading automatically?
Some stores use non-standard pricing formats. If the price doesn't auto-fill, you can enter it manually. The product name and image should still load in most cases.
Can I change the pause duration?
Yes. When adding an item, you can choose from preset durations (72 hours, 48 hours, 24 hours, 1 week, or 2 weeks). You can also edit the duration after adding by tapping the item.
What does "Maybe Later" mean?
Items in the Maybe Later list are things you're interested in but aren't ready to pause yet. Think of it as a wishlist, you can move items to a pause whenever you're ready.
How are my savings calculated?
Every time you skip an item after a pause expires, the item's price is added to your total savings. Your savings dashboard shows your total, monthly breakdown, and projected yearly savings.
Notifications
Why should I enable notifications?
Notifications tell you when a pause expires so you can make your buy-or-skip decision. Without them, you'd need to check the app manually.
I'm not getting notifications
- Open Settings → Notifications → CartPause
- Make sure Allow Notifications is turned on
- Check that Banners, Sounds, and Lock Screen are enabled
Can I turn off notifications?
Yes. Go to Settings → Notifications → CartPause and toggle off Allow Notifications. You'll still see expired items when you open the app.
Privacy & Data
Is my data shared with anyone?
Your items sync across your Apple devices through your CartPause account (Sign in with Apple). We don't sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for analytics. You can delete every item via Settings → Delete All Items, or remove your account and all associated data entirely via Settings → Delete Account.
Does CartPause track my browsing?
No. CartPause only sees data when you explicitly share a product link to the app. It does not monitor your browsing or shopping activity.
How do I delete my data?
Three options inside the app:
- Settings → Delete All Items wipes every paused / saved / skipped item from this device and from our backend, but keeps your account so you can start fresh.
- Settings → Delete Account permanently removes your account, every item, your device push tokens, and your cached AI sentences from our backend immediately. You'll be signed out automatically. This can't be undone.
- Delete the app from your device wipes the local copy. The backend copy stays until you also delete your account.
If you can't access the app, email hello@cartpause.com from the Apple ID you used to sign in and we'll process the deletion manually.
Troubleshooting
The app is showing a paywall but I'm subscribed
Tap Restore Subscription on the paywall screen, or go to Menu → Restore Subscription. This refreshes your subscription status with Apple.
CartPause isn't appearing in the Share menu
- Open the Share menu from any app
- Scroll to the right and tap More
- Find CartPause and toggle it on
- You can also reorder it by holding and dragging to move it higher in the list
The share extension isn't loading product details
Some URLs require an internet connection to fetch product information. Make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data. If the issue persists, try sharing the URL again.
